Providing you can release a bowl low enough so as not to damage the green and with a delivery sufficient for your bowl to travel the length of your rink (that’s the bowling term for a lane) then membership is well within your grasp.
At Chalfont St Giles Bowling Club, we welcome people of all abilities. While we have several top-notch bowlers, many
members play purely for the fun of it.

Just don a pair of flat-soled shoes and come to the club on any Friday from 5pm. Fridays are Roll-Up days (practice sessions). Your usual casual clothes will be fine (though please, no jeans). Ask to speak to one of our coaches (one or more will always be in attendance) and let them know you’d like to join. Your coach will select an appropriate set of bowls (loaned for the day) and take you to a rink for a coaching session.
If you have bowled before, just one coaching session may be sufficient. If you have never bowled it might take several sessions but, rest assured, your coach will want you to succeed as much as you’ll wish it for yourself. There is no charge for new-member coaching sessions, though naturally, membership is entirely at the discretion of the club.
We do our best to keep membership fees as low as possible. Our present rate is £150 per annum, though we hope members will dip into their pockets from time to time for raffles and other sundries that help bolster club funds. If representing the club in competitions you’ll need to order a club shirt and trousers, but if you wish simply to attend Roll-Ups, club colours are not compulsory. Member benefits include the option of a reasonably priced light supper after Roll-Ups, and our clubhouse offers beers, wine, coffees and teas at well below retail prices.
We also run a varied programme of non-bowling social events.
